I am a firm believer in balance and whilst I follow a fit and balanced lifestyle, I like to try a variety of foods and treats and mix things up.
This, 'cheers to health' type smoothie, keeps me on the straight and narrow and is the first of many obsessive smoothie posts boasting a staple and favorite 'to-go' for breakfast.
Blackberry Protein Smoothie

Ingredients
one handful berries / one-two tablespoons plain full cream yoghurt / two tablespoons almonds / one tablespoon hemp seeds or chia seeds / one scoop vanilla protein powder / half a teaspoon cinnamon / a few tablespoons of water added to reach desired consistently / a handful ice
*hemp seeds or chia seeds (featured below) may be omitted - they are added for health benefits
*I used blackberries but blueberries and raspberries are also favorites.
Instructions
Blender alert! – add all the ingredients to said blender, adding water last, tablespoon by tablespoon in between blitzing.
Pour into an interesting glass

Adaptions
– for a creamier delight, add half or one frozen banana (chop in advance and freeze in a plastic sandwich bag)
– for a thicker drink, add more greek yoghurt
– for a higher nutrient count and dose of iron, add a handful of chopped spinach (it doesn’t change the flavour or colour, promise)
