So, it’s your turn to plan date night or you're meeting up with someone you want to impress but can’t think of anything interesting to do. Some are some basics- you can’t pull out all the stops on day one, or can you?
Secret Sunrise Durban
If you like music, like to move AND can get up early, this one’s for you.
Their FB page describes the event as a guided dance celebrating the morning sunrise, with instructors and silent headphones. It takes place once a month from 6-7am, is themed (dress-up win) and the location is only revealed after you have purchased your tickets, 24 hours before. See the Secret Sunrise website here.
More than 5 000 people follow the Facebook page and so should you!

Moses Mabhida Sky Car or Adventure Walk
For those with Apple Watches and Fit Bits furiously getting steps in, the Adventure Walk is a 500 stair climb over the Stadium Arch.
It only takes 20 minutes on average and he view is breath-taking. It’s R90 a person and open on weekends at 10am, 1pm and 3pm. During school holidays it’s open from Friday to Sunday at the aforementioned times.
The Sky Car is a beautiful way to see the city, without all those stairs. For more information on operating times, click here.
Drinks at the Lighthouse Bar with a gorgeous ocean view or an Oyster Box Spa Treatment
To view details of the bar and live music evenings click here or to see the Spa packages, here.
Try to slip in a walk along the Umhlanga broad walk to the pier - at night lit in blue it feels as though you are standing inside the skeleton of whale (cool experience, promise).
Dine at one of the trendy city restaurants
Unity Bar, 031 Distillery or Republik (to name my faves), floating restaurant or dine next to a shark tank at the Cargo Hold at uShaka.

Morning Markets are a food lover’s delight
Finally, a morning market on a Sunday! The Morning Trade Food Market takes place at The Plant on 15 Station Drive. A variety of meal options are available (the lamb pita or falafel roti are exceptional), freshly squeezed juices as well as farm fresh goods and flowers.
Coffee dates at a quality cafe
The Bean Green Coffee Roastery is a cozy cafe in Glenwood (5 minutes south of Durban) open from 7-5 in the week and from 8am on Saturday.
This space for morning refreshers is a peaceful work environment for one to get some work done or catch-up with friends whilst sipping on freshly roasted and ground beans from around the country.
Go-karting at Gateway
Gateway Theatre of Shopping offers Action Karting high speed racing located in parkade C outside Spar and Checkers. Open 7 days a week, 9am to 10pm (12am closing time on Friday and Saturday).

Ice-skating at the Durban Ice-Arena
